About

I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona by my wonderfully strange, smart and talented parents, Scott and Julie Berrie. In elementary school I spent my lunch breaks drawing pictures for the school newsletter and designing holiday displays for my classroom. I told everyone I wanted to draw for Disney. Gary Larson was my hero.

Though I continued my artistic endeavors all through middle and high school, I really began branching out with my work while attending the University of Arizona. There I discovered my love of illustration and painting, developing a life dream of becoming a children’s book illustrator. Frida Kahlo and Mark Ryden became my new inspirations. In May of 2007 I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Painting and Drawing.

On March 1st, 2008 I married my wonderful husband, Jeff Keeme. Together we own two companies here in Tucson. Our company myBlackDogBooks develops children’s book apps, of which I am the main author and illustrator, allowing me to live me dream every day.

On April 29, 2011 we welcomed our son, Adam, my newest inspiration.
